Piccolo Key Maker Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform the key making procedures of newly manufactured Burkart piccolos including the following:

  • Preparation of precious metals machined and cast components with files, abrasive wheels, polishing equipment, reamers, and facing tools.
  • Precisely assembling metal components using high and low temp silver solder in combination with jigs and fixtures
  • Precision fitting of parts to tolerances of 0.001”
  • Heat treatment and cleaning operations
  • Ability to work effectively with solvents, chemicals, gas, oxygen
  • Operation of process management software, including accurately entering data, watching delivery dates and coordinating with production to assure on-time deliveries
  • Safe and efficient operation of small lathes, drill press, hand grinders and other typical machine shop equipment.
  • Communicating in a cordial and professional manner with Burkart sales, management team, colleagues and customers.
  • Delivering and receiving quality checks to colleagues in a cordial and professional manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Passion for working with hands.
  • Demonstrated experience silver soldering is preferred
  • Experience in woodwind repair is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact and communicate positively and effectively both orally and in writing with co-workers and management
  • Ability to work through obstacles to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Ability to take instruction and critique
  • Excellent manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to collaborate with a cross-functional team to achieve company goals
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision

Salary: $20-$22 per hour, commensurate with experience.

This position is first shift, full time, in our Shirley MA facility. Benefits include health, disability and life insurances, paid sick, vacation and holidays along with participation in employee stock ownership program after initial vesting period.
